Naperville Park District releases 6-minute "green" building video tour that showcases features of Silver L.E.E.D-certified facility

The Naperville Park District, located in a suburb west of Chicago, is showcasing its South Maintenance Facility, a green building. This facility was the first building to receive certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (L.E.E.D.) in Naperville, IL. Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) March 19, 2010 - For those who are curious about what a L.E.E.D. (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building looks like, the Naperville Park District now offers a free video tour of the South Maintenance Facility via a link on their website.

The South Maintenance Facility, located at 3415 Book Road in Naperville, IL, is the operations center for Park District employees in the South Parks Division as they maintain the District's largest parks, including Frontier Sports Complex, Commissioners Park, DuPage River Sports Complex, and Knoch Knolls Park.

The facility, which received Silver L.E.E.D. certification, was the first public building in Naperville to be L.E.E.D.-certified.

Energy-efficient and sustainable features of the building include a reflective roof, a highly efficient H-VAC system, day lighting, extra thick building insulation, window shading, natural ventilation, drought-tolerant landscaping, and recycled building materials.

In addition to the video tour, the Park District invites interested residents, students, and any other interested individuals, to visit the building to view the features, read the interpretive signs, and ask questions. The facility provides a good learning opportunity for students regarding "green" construction.
