  • (1888PressRelease) March 24, 2007 - Musocity.com, a new internet start-up, today officially announced its launch. The site - found at www.musocity.com - is an online music community and social networking site that aims to bring together individuals who are involved in or interested in music at a variety of different levels.

"MusoCity was designed to connect music lovers of all descriptions," explains Ian Evans, creator of the new start-up. "For most online communities, music has tended to be added on as a bit of an afterthought, but it is at the heart of what we are trying to do. As well as providing accounts for artists and music fans, we wanted to go further, allowing our users to discover individuals and services spanning a wider range of the spectrum. By providing accounts for musicians, venues and music retailers as well as for fans and artists, we hope to build a more diverse community that can be used for many different purposes. For example, people will be able to use the site to track down local musicians and actually form their bands in the first place. They will also be able to find out about local stores and venues that they may not currently know exist. Of course, they will also be able to use our service to make new friends and to discover excellent new music."

"The site naturally has a lot of similarities with other online communities. Members can input information about themselves to create a profile, upload photos and send messages to other members directly through the site. The main difference is the flexibility you have when searching our member database. You can be very specific in what you search for - for example, if you are looking for a drummer who plays a certain type of music, is of a specified proficiency, lives within a given distance of you and is currently looking to join a band, you can search for exactly that. If someone matching those criteria has registered, you will almost certainly be able to find them. For us, it’s all about the music and that’s what currently differentiates our service from other, similar sites. We also have plans to introduce a number of additional features over the coming months that will help make our even more service unique and may add additional account types to make the community even more diverse."

In addition to the networking aspect, the site also encourages its members to express their journalistic instincts by allowing them to post music reviews and articles to the site, as well as maintaining blogs.

“We all know that over the last few years the internet has become more and more about internet users themselves creating content and sharing their views and opinions with each other,” explains Evans. “Our site is another place where people will easily be able to do this. We encourage our members to write reviews and music related articles and hope the site will become a place where people come to read about and discuss music as much as network and connect with other members.”
