  • (1888PressRelease) April 08, 2011 - Moodys Worldwide announced a renaissance in classic British styling for ethically produced mens' and womens' accessories. The company report strong interest against a surge in all online sales throughout the UK. Whilst UK high street fashion sales are down, all types of retail have rocketed online during the last two months.

Accountancy network BDO announced that high street fashion sales were down by 0.7% in February, compared to the previous month. However, the total number of online sales of all products was up by 49% in January and 32.9% in February. The team at Moodys noted the difference in the way British fashion is heading online:

"We're seeing a definitive demand for higher quality instead of a more typical fast fashion piece. People are shopping more carefully for accessories that will last more than just one short fashion season. Our pieces are all about craftsmanship and using the finest materials as our starting point. They're versatile and last far longer than brief trends, for example, our range of gentlemen's ties, scarves, cummerbunds and handkerchiefs are all made from the highest quality English silk. As a result, our collection is equally dapper complementing a favourite denim jacket or a city suit and cashmere coat. Working with fine fabrics lends the collection a timeless elegance that you just can't find with other materials".

Leading discount high street fashion stores have also reported a slow down in sales. There have also been concerns for years surrounding the conditions for workers manufacturing fast fashion garments. Research from Mintel accordingly reveals an explosion in ethical fashion. By 2009 the sector had increased four fold within 5 years to deliver sales worth £175 million. One in five UK consumers complained about lack of availability, whilst one in four stated a definitive preference for buying ethically produced items. Moodys Worldwide use their ethical policy as their foundation:

"We label the collection online so our customers can see where each piece has come from. We only use factories audited for Global Sourcing Policy and we fully believe in the Ethical Trading Initiative. Collaborative working with our suppliers and artisans also means the quality is higher. That makes us very much a one stop shop for many of our executive, time pressured customers. They know they can buy their cummerbund and bow tie for the formal work occasion next week and accessories for the office from the same store that they buy their weekend wear from. We work with 10th generation silk weavers plus traditional craftspeople in one of the last factories in South East England to get the attention to detail and finishing that we need. For our ladieswear, we feature a lot of hand finished scarves, shawls and stoles. These are all just exquisite - each tiny bead, or tassel or piece of embroidery is hand finished by one of our truly skilled artisans. The final price makes each piece always a genuine find - the quality makes for exceptional value for money. We're also a pleasant place to shop whatever the weather is doing".
