The MobilityWorks Transit Connect was approved for NYC Taxi use by the NY Taxi & Limousine Commission back on July 12, 2012. New York City is the largest taxi market in the country with over 13,000 taxicabs, and has recently made a strong commitment to the disabled of the city by pledging to dramatically increase the number of wheelchair accessible taxis available.

The rear-entry Ford Transit Connect has been successfully crash tested to give drivers and riders the highest levels of safety. Plus, it has an average fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon in combined driving, which is a 50% or greater improvement over the former standard taxi, Ford's Crown Victoria sedan.
