  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) August 25, 2010 - It's always tough to be the new kid at school. But if you are one of a set of triplets, at least you already have two friends. Alina, Lali and Niko Leontarakis came to The Sagemont School, a Broward County private school, last year entering in sixth grade. Although they are triplets, each child has different talents and pursues their own track of activities. All three children are honor roll students and all say that their role models are their parents.

Prior to coming to this college prep school, the triplets were already involved in sports, art classes, drama club and chorus. Knowing that part of Sagemont's philosophy is for students to get involved in sports and clubs, each student jumped right in showing their own style. Although they all love sports, their parents insist they make good grades in order to participate. Alina, the oldest triplet, says, "In our family school comes before sports so I had to work hard and make the honor roll." In 6th grade she played basketball and ran track. This year, she will go out for the tennis team. Her best memory of her first year at Sagemont was Battle of the Grades, the centerpiece to Sagemont's home coming activities.

Lali, the 2nd oldest, enjoyed her first year at Sagemont because "they offered a lot of different activities. I was in the Environmental and Builders Club, and I loved being on the track team." She is interested in acting, fashion and make-up. "I love to give my cousins make-overs!" Lali won a special Sagemont Community Service Award. She participated in a Cystic Fibrosis Walk, she made sandwiches for the disadvantaged with the Builder's Club and did beach cleanup for the Environmental Club. In addition to this, on her own, Lali collected clothing from her friends and the community for an organization called Fundamas in Columbia. This year at Sagemont, Lali is excited to try out for the Cross Country team as well as take an Art class. Her best memory of her first year at Sagemont was also Battle of the Grades.

The youngest triplet and only boy, Niko, is a huge sports fan who enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in his first year at Sagemont. This year he is going to try out for the soccer team. "I am excited to try out for the soccer team because I haven't played team soccer since I was seven years old." Niko also has been perfecting his running by participating in local runs for charity organizations. His best memory of his first year at Sagemont was riding on the bus every day to baseball practices and games with the guys. "That was so cool!"

Dr. Brent Goldman, President of the Sagemont School, said "Alina, Lali and Niko embody what our school is about. They are great kids, outstanding students, and are actively involved in school activities and the community."
