  • (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2009 - Other than Red, one of the rarest of colored diamonds is a natural Green diamond with no secondary overtone. Perhaps the most famous of all Green diamonds is the Dresden Green. The Dresden Green probably weighed over 100 (old) carats in its rough form. The Dresden Green gets its name from the capital of Saxony where it has been on display for more than 200 years. Excerpt from “Fancy Colored Diamonds” by Harvey Harris.

When looking at pure Green diamonds from a collecting standpoint, one should have deep pockets, as only a handful of pure Green diamonds have been given a natural grading by the GIA.

The Volume 1, No. 17 Colored Diamond Analyst also reviews Chameleon Green diamonds: How the coloration occurs, physical attributes and marketability. In addition, detailed auction results of 7 Green Diamonds are presented.
