  • (1888PressRelease) June 10, 2013 - The classical guitar is undoubtedly one of the most popular instruments of the XX and XXI century. Despite this undoubted fact, it still has very little original repertoire when compared to other instruments like the piano, violin or flute.

The technical writing difficulty that characterizes the guitar, intimidates composers to create music for the instrument, since they don't know its strengths and limitations. Composing can become a complex and tedious art for them. It is vital that composers from this century get involved in the intricacies of this instrument well-known for over its wealth of expression, timber and nearly infinite possibilities.

"After three years of a tremendous work and dedication to this project of Guitarra Latinoamericana, I finally met the goal", said professor Estarellas in Madrid, Spain.

"Guitarra Latinoamericana" is an album which has been written entirely by guitarists, who fully know the instrument and play it in their professional daily live. This caught Guerra's attention and was a decisive factor for getting him involved in this project. The fact that all these composers from several Latin American countries, all alive and with successful careers, have created works for this album, is of great importance, since they have put forward their personal aesthetic and creative vision.

The interpretative versatility of maestro Estarellas is of the highest level. The melodic sweetness, the precise rhythmic tapestry and knowledge of autochthonous values of each composer that he exhibits in his playing, makes this production a jewel of the XXI century guitar repertoire.

"Producing this album has been very pleasant. It has given me the opportunity to compose the suite that gives title to the project. At the same time, I'm happy to have other talented composers from Latin America in this project, which will remain a milestone in guitar's history ", said Yalil Guerra from his recording studio in Burbank, California.

"Guitarra Latinoamericana" includes composers like: Yalil Guerra (Cuba), Fabriano Borges (Brazil), Eduardo Martin (Cuba), Jorge Herrera Santander (Peru), Joaquin Riano (Colombia), Carlos Atilano (Venezuela), Beno Belduma (Ecuador), Fernando Ruiz Arduz (Bolivia) and Jorge Vega Ugaz (Peru).
