  • Las Vegas, NV-AZ (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2008 - Award-winning KTGY GROUP, INC., Architecture and Planning, is pleased to announce that KTGY’s Principal David Obitz has been invited to participate in the 2008 Multifamily Executive Conference program, “Beyond the Crossroads,” held from October 13-15, 2008 at The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev.

On Monday, October 13, from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm, Obitz will be a speaker at the session, “Born Again: Cost-Effective Ways to Revive Stale Apartment Stock.” Obitz will discuss many proven and efficient ways to update the rental market. Obitz’s entire career has been dedicated to residential housing in every form. He is responsible for the design integrity from conceptual planning and schematic architecture to construction details on various multi-family projects throughout California and leads a team of designers who implement the client’s vision through the many phases of development.

“The vast majority of apartments in the United States today are more than 20 years old and, with the present economic circumstances, financial backers are less willing to invest in new construction projects,” Obitz said. “With little new construction moving forward, value-add rehabilitations are on the rise. But, it is a competitive rental market and working with an experienced and award-winning design firm provides multi-family property owners and managers with time-proven design enhancements to reposition a property in the marketplace.”

KTGY has acclaimed experience with market rate multi-family communities including mixed-use, affordable, campus and senior housing. As designers of several award-winning high-density and mixed-use projects, the firm understands the specific needs of urban infill neighborhoods. Among these neighborhoods are Market Lofts in Los Angeles, Calif. and Aqua Via in Oakland, Calif. designed by Lee Homes / CIM Group and Thompson Dorfman Partners respectively.

Affordable housing has quickly transpired in today’s market slowdown and KTGY has been working effortlessly with its builders and developers who seek to provide this specific housing type. The firm is pleased to announce the opening of two new affordable housing projects – Monarch Pointe Apartments in Anaheim, Calif. and Ceres Court Apartment Homes in Fontana, Calif. Both are developed by Jamboree Housing Corporation and led by Obitz and his team experienced team of designers.

Having worked with some nationally recognized colleges / universities, KTGY is currently designing the third phase of the student housing community at the University of California, Irvine (American Campus Communities) and it’s targeting a sliver or higher certification under the USGBC’s LEED rating system.

With combined efforts between KTGY designers and its builders/developers, the firm continues to showcase its proven experience in the 50+ market. Led by principals Manny Gonzalez, AIA, Rob Williams, AIA and Keith Labus, AIA, several award winning senior communities incorporating assisted and active adult components have been designed. Just recently the second phase of La Costa Glen, located in Carlsbad, Calif. and developed by Continuing Care Communities, was built expanding on the success of the first phase built several years ago. “The Grove” Senior Apartments located in Garden Grove, Calif. has become another KTGY community gaining the gold accolade at the 2008 Best of 50+ Housing Awards.
