  • (1888PressRelease) March 01, 2012 - HONG KONG - The Kowloon Warriors clinched the regular season title for elite ice hockey league CIHL with one week to go, and will be the favourite going into the CIHL playoffs, which begin Saturday March 10 at Mega Ice.

    The Warriors, who have led the league for most of the inaugural CIHL season, clinched the title on Saturday, February 18, after their closest competitor, the South China Sharks, lost to the Macau Aces. Not content to sit on their laurels, the Warriors proved they are the team to beat with a 3-2 victory over the Hong Kong Tycoons.

    Warriors General Manager Arthur Tam said, "It's a great feeling to head into the playoffs in first place. However, the work is far from over and every player on our team is focused on winning the 2011-2012 CIHL championship."

    Following the Warriors' final regular season game on Saturday, March 3 against the Aces at 8 p.m., the Warriors will take on the CIHL's fourth-placed team in the semi-final on March 10. A week later, the two finalists will begin a best-of-three series to determine the inaugural CIHL champion.

    The CIHL plays on Saturday nights through April 21, 2012, where fans can catch two back-to-back games featuring the Hong Kong Tycoons, the Kowloon Warriors, the Macau Aces and the South China Sharks.
