JinJiang Inn's environmental initiatives stand out among Shanghai hotels for their diversity and inventiveness. They include:
    • Using low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emission materials in building and renovating
    • Furnishings which reach E0 standard
    • External wall heat preservation
    • Water saving systems
    • Offering an RMB10 bonus to guests who do not use disposable items

"Many of the larger hotels seem to focus on the large infrastructure projects when trying to go green", said Tracy Guo, market manager at Jinjiang Inn.

"We have thought a bit more laterally, and discovered many ways that we can be ecologically responsible while maintaining great value for money", Tracy Guo continued.

Jinjiang Inn was one of the major Shanghai economy hotels that participated in Earth Hour for the past 3 years, and it is this sort of low-cost, high environmental return initiative that Tracy believes has led to JinJiang Inn's prominent 'green hotel' reputation.
