  • (1888PressRelease) July 23, 2026 - OSAKA, Japan - Inazuma Inc. announced that ePaperCraft SHIRYU, a Windows application for designing original papercraft models, will launch worldwide on Steam on July 23, 2026 Pacific Time, corresponding to July 24 at 10:00 a.m. Japan Standard Time. The software connects digital design with hands-on creativity by taking an idea from a computer screen to a finished paper object.

Users can create and edit simple 3D models, unfold them into printable net diagrams, arrange the parts for printing, and assemble the finished design using paper, scissors, and glue. SHIRYU also includes more than 70 ready-to-build models, allowing newcomers to begin making immediately while learning how digital shapes become physical objects.

The application is intended for hobbyists, educators, makers, artists, families, and first-time papercraft designers. Its accessible tools have even been used by elementary school students to create original designs. SHIRYU is designed for creative and recreational use rather than industrial CAD, CAM, or precision manufacturing, and small dimensional differences may occur in printed and assembled models.

Developer Takahiro Yonemura has continued developing the project in Japan for more than 20 years. Its roots go back to Yonemura's original work, "A Development of Papercraft Modeling Software," which received a Jury Selection in the Entertainment Division of the 10th Japan Media Arts Festival. The Steam release is an expanded and improved successor that carries the original creative concept forward for an international audience.

The project also aims to share Japan's culture of paper making and hands-on creativity worldwide. The user interface and help documentation are in English, and the application has been tested successfully on both English-language and Japanese-language Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. No generative AI was used to create the program code or any included model. ePaperCraft SHIRYU will be priced at US$4.99 or JPY 655, with a 10 percent launch discount for the first seven days.
