    Insights Therapy Press Release

Sometimes it is hard to imagine that the life of a celebrity is anything but perfect, but as we have seen in recent times, that can be just an illusion. The death of Robin Williams shocked and touched millions, not only his fans but the people who themselves are dealing with depression and addiction problems. Young actress Amanda Bynes is once again in the news as her ongoing problems with addiction has led to another arrest for DWI. Her reported refusal to continue with family therapy interventions have no doubt left her feeling unsupported and her behavior is a reflection of that. It is our sincerest wish that Ms. Bynes again reaches out to her treatment team and finds the strength and courage to face her problems and allow others to help her get back on the path to her continued recovery and good health.

There have been some bright spots though as stars, young and old have managed to follow the steps in their trauma recovery plan and come out on the other side, stronger and more focused. Demi Lovato left a successful show because of her eating disorder and addictions, but reports that she feels stronger and healthier now than she ever has. Lady Gaga has never hidden her struggles with her eating disorders and has even reached out to her fans, whom she calls her "Little Monsters" to offer them her support and her love as they go on their own journey of self-awareness and trauma recovery.

Each of these stars have one thing in common: they have had to face their struggles with depression, eating disorders and addiction in the public eye. Their very real problems have made headlines...however, these are the very same problems that every day, ordinary people struggle with as well. There are no restrictions on whom depression will affect - no safety net from eating disorders just because you may or may not famous. If you or a loved one is facing any of these struggles it is important to seek some level of counseling immediately.

Insights Therapy is proud to introduce its two newest additions to its collaborative practice: Murphy Foster and Amie Hamaker. They will no doubt make wonderful additions to the Insights team focusing on depression (including thoughts of suicide), addiction, eating disorders and divorce recovery. They will also offer other treatment options including family therapy, interventions and more.

Murphy Foster comes to us from private practice and specializes in addiction, depression, shame and life crises. He double-majored in Psychology and Sociology at Louisiana State University earning his Bachelor of Science degree before going on to earn his Master's in Biblical Counseling at the Dallas Theological Seminary. He will be offering many types of counseling including divorce recovery.

Mr. Foster previously worked as a life development coach working with an outpatient therapy group at an addiction recovery treatment center. In his spare time he likes to write and play his own music, run or take spur of the moment road trips.

Amie Hamaker is currently working as a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and is under the direct supervision of Insights founder, Mary Sanger. Ms. Hamaker specializes in eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia and binge eating as well as related disorders. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Families Studies at Texas Tech University and then her Master's degree from counseling at Southern Methodist University. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. As she wraps up her internship, Ms. Hamaker will offer counseling in her specialty areas.

Insights Therapy believes that therapy is like yoga for the mind and takes a holistic approach to counseling. You cannot just treat the symptoms and ignore the effects it has on the rest of the person - you must treat everything, mind, body and spirit as a whole.

Founder Mary Sanger is a Marriage and Family Therapist, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor and a Chemical Dependency Counselor. She believes that it takes a collaborative, group approach to reach and counsel everyone who comes to Insights Therapy for help whether they are there for problems with an addiction, grief counseling or family therapy. Every week all of the therapists meet to discuss how best to help their clients providing the best and most well-rounded counseling options available.
