  • New Orleans, LA (1888PressRelease) November 29, 2017 - Guy Lyman Fine Art today announced an opening to be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the gallery at 3645 Magazine Street on December 2nd, 2017, to exhibit a preview of the new “Storm” series of photographs by New Orleans native Les Schmidt. The exhibition, part of the 2017 PhotoNOLA event, will continue through January 1st, 2018.

    “Storm” is Les Schmidt’s new abstract series of archival pigment prints made with an old BlackBerry Storm smartphone. His “Storm 64” was a selected finalist for this year’s Camera USA™ 2017 National Photography Award and Exhibition.

    Les Schmidt (b. 1960) attended the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts from 2003 -2004. He has exhibited extensively in the US including the cities of Atlanta, Los Angeles, Naples, Cooperstown, Nashville and New Orleans and has been a selected finalist for national juried exhibitions at the Huntsville Museum of Art, Masur Museum of Art and Attleboro Arts Museum. Schmidt’s Hurricane Katrina image “Tradition in Progress” was a juried international finalist in his father’s hometown of Budapest, Hungary and his still life portraits, “Lillian” and “Chet” have been published by the Huntsville Museum of Art’s Red Clay Survey 2017 catalogue and Manifest’s
    International Photography Annual 6 respectively.
