  • Riverside-San Bernardino, CA (1888PressRelease) January 12, 2009 - Recognizing that the business community is faced with overwhelming economic challenges, the City of San Jacinto, the City of Hemet, the County of Riverside Economic Development Agency and the Hemet-San Jacinto Economic Development Corporation are sponsoring a free workshop on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on How to Survive in 2009! The event will be held at the San Jacinto Community Center located at 625 S. Pico in San Jacinto, Calif.

"Rather than giving up and closing their doors, we want business owners to know that there are many resources available including job training, business counseling, financing, utility rebate programs, and more," said Sharon Merritt, San Jacinto Economic Development Manager.

"Several municipalities are holding similar workshops, and we thought it was a great idea. We need to do everything possible to help our companies stay in business and retain their employees," said Merritt. A variety of presentations will be provided by the Riverside County Workforce Development Center, Mt. San Jacinto College, Inland Empire Small Business Development Center, SCORE, Southern California Reinvestment CDFI, Tech Coast Angels, Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship, Inland Empire Women’s Business Center, California Manufacturing Technology Consulting, Eastern Municipal Water District, The Gas Company and Southern California Edison.

In addition, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a business assessment, called the X-Ray. In a workshop format, the initial X-ray will be conducted by the Small Business Development Center on the day of the workshop. It will examine the company along the lines of the team, production, marketing, financial performance and leadership. The X-Ray will provide management with a concise view of how it is doing in those areas. Follow up reviews and assistance can be made by appointment.
