  • Pittsburgh, PA (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2011 - Eyetique is the first optical retailer in Pittsburgh to offer ChromaGen™ lenses, a life-changing aid for patients with dyslexia and color blindness. Patented and approved by the FDA, ChromaGen™ lenses are a unique system of colored filters that change the wavelength of light going into both eyes. This unique technology allows the speed of the information traveling along the brain's neurological pathways to be dynamically balanced, reducing or eliminating symptoms such as moving or double words.

Eyetique is a Certified ChromaGen™ practitioner and can incorporate this technology into any existing prescription in eye glasses or contact lenses. ChromaGen™ is designed to help people with dyslexia and can correct the symptoms of visual reading disorders including seeing double words or lines, words that come in and out of focus, or words that move on the page, scrunch together or pull apart. Users have reported dramatic improvement in reading ability and comprehension when using the lenses.

For patients with color blindness, ChromaGen™ haploscopic filters work by changing the wavelength of each color going into one or both eyes to enhance color perception and discrimination. In trial studies, ChromaGen™ reported over 97% of color blind patients experienced a significant enhancement to their color
    vision.

"The adoption of ChromaGen™ into our existing optical technology will allow us to help many of our patients read better, see brighter colors, and experience a better quality of life," said Brad Childs, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, eyetique. ChromaGen™ lenses are prescribed using a simple, non-invasive exam and are available at the Squirrel Hill and South Hills Village eyetique locations.

Founded by Norman Childs, eyetique first opened in 1979 in the Squirrel Hill area of Pittsburgh and has grown to 7 stores located throughout the greater Pittsburgh region including Shadyside, Wexford, South Hills Village, Wilkins Twp., Southside Works, Squirrel Hill, and the Mall at Robinson. Norman Childs has been designing his own line of glasses since 1998, which has become the best-selling line at eyetique. They have built their reputation on providing exceptional service along with high-fashion, high-quality products. More information can be found at www.eyetique.com.
