  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 20, 2010 - Donate Life Hollywood (part of One Legacy S. California Organ Bank) has come together with friends of Joseph Helfgot celebrating the publication of a new book, The Match: Complete Strangers, A Miracle Transplant, Two Lives Transformed.

Proceeds from "The Match" have been given to the Joseph Helfgot Foundation and are allocated toward organ donation projects, including a new Donate Life Filmmaker Project. Filmmakers from across the country receive $1000 stipends to produce 5-minute shorts documenting real stories about organ and tissue donation. Filmmakers are also provided transportation and lodging at the Donate Life Film Festival held at the Paley Center each year. Documentaries are archived in an educational video library used by the transplantation community and the general public.

The Joseph Helfgot Foundation has just announced that it will fully "match" each $1500 pledged on or before October 26th. Facts about Donate Hollywood and the Donate Life Filmmaker Project are attached by electronic means in order to save our forests. Your contributions are tax deductible under 501(c)3 regulations to the extent permitted by law.

As a movie lover and committed organ donor, Joseph would be happy to see his legacy continue in this way. Please consider having your company sponsor one or more stipends to support the Donate Life Filmmakers Project.

All patrons will be acknowledged at a Gala Celebration to take place on Tuesday, October 26th at the home of Mrs. Janet Leahy and her husband, Richard Farber, who have graciously opened their doors in the Palisades for this event. Patrons will receive invitations prior to the event containing details for entry. You may contact me directly if interested in learning more about the Filmmakers Project, or Ms. Tenaya Wallace at Donate Life Hollywood.
