CIHL Promotes Hong Kong Ice Hockey with Canadian International School Partnership

  • (1888PressRelease) February 21, 2012 - HONG KONG - The Canadian International School of Hong Kong is the latest school to join the program and will join the region's first contact ice hockey league for two back-to-back games early next month.

    The Adopt a School program sees the CIHL partner with different Hong Kong schools to provide complimentary tickets for students and teachers to participate in a fun evening of Hong Kong ice hockey. Schools are jumping at the chance to take part and provide students with a new and different way to enhance and extend their educational programs.

    "RBC and the Adopt a School program are excited to welcome the Canadian International School of Hong Kong to the CIHL," said Andrew Turczyniak, Head of Asia, RBC Wealth Management. "The educational opportunities provided by the program and the life lessons associated with sport are invaluable and we hope that the students not only enjoy themselves, but take away with them some of those key messages."

    With over 1,000 hockey players of all levels in the city, the demand for high-level Hong Kong ice hockey continues to grow. The CIHL is looking to fill that need and create new interest in the sport, in part by reaching out to different schools.

    The CIHL plays on Saturday nights through April 14, 2012, where fans can catch two back-to-back games featuring the Hong Kong Tycoons, the Kowloon Warriors, the Macau Aces and the South China Sharks.

    All games are played at Mega Ice, with a game format of three, 12-minute periods of five-on-five hockey.
