  • (1888PressRelease) December 13, 2010 - Celestine Publishing announced the release of its newest edition of the Principles with Promise series that catalogs approximately 1,000 principles of truth addressed at the October 2010 Semi-annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This edition of Principles with Promise also cross-references each principle taught at the conference under more than 1,000 topics for easy access and topical research.

"Every Semi-Annual Session of General Conference yields the equivalent of a New Testament, a Book of Mormon, or a Doctrine and Covenants when it comes to the number of principles taught in one weekend of addresses," observed Vinny DiGirolamo, Author of the Principles with Promise series. "As Latter-day Saints, we revere the counsel given at General Conference as scripture and we will study these precepts at length over the next six months until the next semi-annual conference is convened again in April."

This edition of Principles with Promise is unique in its layout and cross referencing bringing new perspectives to its readers, however, it is not unfamiliar to Latter-day Saint leaders, teachers, and students who do topical research for assignments, lessons, or personal scripture study.

"This publication is a clear indication that there is a need for continued revelation and modern-day prophets to guide us though today's complex issues," commented DiGirolamo. "They speak our language and have addressed a number of topics that were only envisioned centuries earlier regarding our generation; topics like addiction, technology, computers, the internet, and pornography."

"To illustrate this observation," DiGirolamo continued, "more than 500 additional topics have been added to typical Topical Guide references found in the scriptures. It is interesting to note, that though a speaker has a particular theme they generally address, their words can be cross-referenced to a number of other topic areas thereby shedding further light. For example, President Uchtdorf addressed the topic of "pride" in a priesthood session, but he was not the only speaker who touched that topic. Ask yourself, Who else did?"

"Another theme that seemed to permeate conference was the need for and description of modern-day prophet attributes and responsibilities. All of the principles that were discussed at Conference about prophets are not only catalogued under the key word, "prophet," they are also dispersed throughout the volume under other topics they similarly address."

This publication of the General Conference edition follows the release of the Second Edition of Principles with Promise: For Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which catalogs more than 4,000 scriptural principles with 50,000 scriptural references indexed under approximately 2,000 key words from the standard works.

The Second Edition Topical Guide and this General Conference edition of Principles with Promise are linked together by related topics which enables researchers to have more balanced perspectives when pursuing topical or principle-centered studies. "In this way, we have the ancient script and the most current information on important topics of salvation from God through His servants the prophets at our finger tips," commented DiGirolamo.

He concluded, "We are excited to make this edition of Principles with Promise available to teachers and students of the scriptures. It will undoubtedly open some new perspectives and aid us in our studies of the truths we need to hear and act upon to receive the promised blessings. We hope that those of other faiths will also venture to know what Latter-day Saints believe in and what principles are being taught and emphasized today across this wide range of topics."
