  • (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2012 - Animated Catalogs, LLC announced the relaunch of its popular African American Heroes program in response to requests from public and private schools. Designed as a computer-based interactive edutainment (education and entertainment) software program, African American Heroes focuses on leaders and positive role models who over the years have made a difference but sometimes do not get all of the recognition that they deserve.

The main goal of the program is to facilitate Black History education. The interactive software engages students in the lives of these famous individuals, providing internet links to reference websites, and including a study tool of random test questions with multiple choice answers that scores and tracks their success along the way. The voiceover capability is a valuable tool for the blind as well. The American Heroes' CD ROM runs on all computers that operate on a Microsoft Windows platform, requires no installation, and is extremely user-friendly.

States Daniel Akintonde, founder and publisher of Animated Catalogs: "Black History education should be part of American History, something that is taught in the schools all year long, not just for a month - in February."

African American Heroes uses a new approach in promoting Black History education including the accomplishments of great African Americans through an "Interactive Book" concept which helps students "experience information" and fun learning by employing multi-media features such as high interactivity, image animation, voice capability, video, and reflex developing games and quizzes.

The cost of the CD is $20 plus $5 shipping and handling. Principals and teachers are encouraged to place their orders directly through the Animated Catalogs website http://www.animatedcatalogs.com in time for the 2012/2013 school year while their budgets are being planned.

Additional information and an automated demo of the program can be viewed on YouTube by clicking the link, or cut and paste the URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw7wIGcolok&feature=endscreen&NR=1 directly into your browser.

Daniel Akintonde is the founder of Animated Catalogs, LLC that publishes African American Heroes and the AfroTutor African Language series of interactive software and books for learning several African languages such as: Igbo, Swahili, Yoruba, Wazobia, and more! African American Heroes is the first of several cultures planned for this series.
