“Language serves as a bridge connecting people,” says CEO, Dimitra Hengen. “It’s wonderful to see Virginia promoting the diversity of our human experiences and supporting international business. When companies seek out new ways to broaden their audiences, everyone succeeds. We are excited about partnering with VEDP for the fourth consecutive year.”

Alpha Omega will also be featured during the VALET Orientation, Graduation luncheon, and Trade Partner Roundtable sessions July 11-12, 2017 at the Omni Hotel in Richmond.

“We were impressed by Alpha Omega Translations’ application and enthusiasm for partnering with VEDP, and look forward to Alpha Omega Translations’ contributions in assisting Virginia companies accelerate their international efforts,” says Lindsey Bertozzi, Global Research Manager, International Trade at VEDP.

VEDP was created in 1995 by the Virginia General Assembly to promote international trade for companies throughout Virginia. The mission of the partnership is to increase the number of Virginia companies selling overseas and their volume of international business. VEDP assists both new and experienced exporters in entering new international markets. For more information, see the VEDP website, http://exportvirginia.org/.

The award-winning VALET program assists companies in expanding their international business. VALET offers capital resources provided by the state, in addition to professional services provided by private-sector partners. Each year, 25 qualified companies are selected to participate in this two-year business acceleration program. For more information about this program, see http://exportvirginia.org/valet-program/.

“The VALET program puts participating companies on the fast track to international business growth by connecting them with the necessary tools for successful export sales,” said Paul Grossman, Vice President of International Trade. “Since its inception in 2002, the program has worked with nearly 270 businesses to accelerate their international sales growth. We are happy to welcome these Virginia companies to VALET and look forward to working with them over the course of the next two years.”

Beyond helping Virginia companies expand internationally, Alpha Omega Translations promotes diversity around the globe. For instance, AOT works to raise awareness about endangered languages at risk. Dimitra Hengen recently traveled with a BBC reporter to interview the last speakers of the whistled language of Antia, a village in Evia, a Greek island, which locals call “Sfyria” from the Greek word Sfryrizo (‘to whistle’). When edited, these videos will serve as a valuable window into another culture.
