(1888PressRelease) July 25, 2011 - Brewster, NY - Alfred Bergman, CEO of SLS Residential, formerly SLS Health, is pleased to announce that 4 plots at the Tilly Foster Community Garden have been planted with an array of vegetables, all of which will be donated to the Brewster Food Pantry.

Produce will be given to the neediest families in this suburban New York community located in Putnam County, about an hour north of Manhattan, according to SLS CEO, Alfred Bergman. The Brewster Food Pantry is operated by the Putnam County Community Action Program and serves some 500 impoverished families.

Plots are maintained by a select number of residents at the SLS Residential Program in Brewster, New York, who willingly volunteer their time and energy toward the betterment of our community on behalf of those who have been besieged by the economic tsunami that has engulfed our great country.

"According to local demographics, the number of people requiring actual food assistance has increased, making the SLS community garden project a timely effort," reports Alfred Bergman. Alfred Bergman goes on to say the activity is a terrific source of pride for our SLS residents who, through this project, also have the opportunity to learn about organic gardening. Alfred Bergman and SLS residents and staff are deeply appreciative of the community leaders who have helped to create a two acre green space to accommodate the demands of other local gardeners.

A full bounty of produce including lettuces, carrots, cucumbers, herbs, squash, tomatoes, and potatoes insure regular deliveries by our residents to the food pantry where it is warmly and graciously received.

Finally, Alfred Bergman expresses his thanks to those who participate in this worthy project and while the growing season maybe short, our giving is long.
