  • (1888PressRelease) March 06, 2009 - Using Skillbound.com to find a job isn't ordinarily done; most of its members use skillbound.com as a skills hub; where people arrange to meet and train others in their own skills, in order to get new skills from others in return. However, being as it’s a free to use, people are coming around to the idea of posting their skills and credentials onto the site to find employment, including, full-time jobs, consultant and tutoring positions.

"Skillbound allows you to search for jobs in an innovative way. Instead of just placing your resume on a site, you can add a little color to your presentation. For instance, if you're a chef you can take photos of your dishes and include them in your presentation. If you're a music producer you can upload your MP3 files and if you're a movie maker you can, of course, add a video clip." So says Sebastian Elliot, the sites' founder.

Whereas most job sites require prospective employees to post their resumes, Skillbound’s approach is different. They encourage members to simply add their skills and describe their credentials in a friendly, personal way. Their logic seems to be that not everyone likes to be defined by just one skill or a rigid resume. So they give their members an opportunity to use all their skills for one job, and customize what they’re looking for. They might find something they weren’t even looking for! For instance, they could find their party organizing skills are in hot demand.

With the deterioration of the global economy, people doubtlessly need all the help they can muster. Skillbound.com doesn't care if you’re a car worker from Detroit, a Wall Street analyst or a mechanic from Nebraska. If you have skills, they want you to show-case them on the site.

The idea of skillbound is to open up channels of opportunity. So if you’re not looking for a job, you can seek someone out with whom you can 'swap train' a skill with. There’s no end of interesting skills you can get back in return.
