  • (1888PressRelease) December 31, 2009 - In Disney’s new movie, “The Princess and the Frog,” the young girl Tiana, upon hearing the story of the Frog Prince, vows she will never kiss a frog. Then when she grows up, she does kiss one. However, unlike the original story, in the animated film the frog doesn’t turn into a prince. Instead, Tiana turns into a frog.

The author of the book, NEVER KISS A FROG: A Girl’s Guide to Creatures from the Dating Swamp reports that Tiana initially had it right. Dating coach and author Marilyn Anderson says, “I loved this movie, since it twists the original myth that girls have been brought up to believe: Kiss a frog and he’ll turn into a prince. The truth is, frogs don’t turn into princes. Once a frog, always a frog.

“Even in Tiana’s case, although she becomes a princess and her frog ends up a prince, she has to endure horrible things along the way, such as turning into a frog herself! Although it all ends happily, with great animation and terrific songs, it is still a fairy tale,” warns Anderson. “In real life, hooking up with men who are frogs won’t lead to a happy ending.”

Women must realize that “The Princess and the Frog,” is totally make believe. It’s fun to read, and fabulous and funny to watch, but you don’t want to LIVE it. If you meet a guy who is a frog, throw him back in the swamp!

In “Never Kiss a Frog,” Anderson describes all kinds of frogs that women should steer clear of, including Sir Frogalot, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Toad, The Bully Frog, The Full-of-Bull Frog, and many more. It is an intelligent and amusing collection of funny dating stories, savvy advice tips and comical illustrations depicting the frogs. Each chapter ends with a Wart Warning or Ribbet Snippet.

Some examples of Frogs and their Wart Warnings:

Croak and Dagger: Mystery men can be exciting, but if he’s mysterious too long, YOU should be the one to disappear.

The Obsessed-with-his-Ex-Frog: If he can’t get her out of his mind – get him out of yours.

Count Frogula: Any guy who drains the life out of you… sucks!

The Godfrogger: If he’s a wiseguy, be a wise girl – FROGGEDABOUDIT!

In addition to the book, Ms. Anderson has created a new webisode series, Never Kiss a Frog, which is set to premiere on the Internet soon. She also has eco-friendly tote bags, called ToadBags which feature five of her frogs, as well as a line of greeting cards, Frognotes… laugh til you croak!
