  • (1888PressRelease) November 10, 2009 - Dubbed by locals as "The Princess of Chechnya", Chrystal Callahan has added an additional segment to her weekly television program dedicated to understanding Islam. Callahan is a non-Muslim who wants to break negative stereotypes and combat "islamophobia".

"By addressing the biggest misconceptions about Muslims, my hope is that it will remove at least one layer of the prejudices many Westerners have" , explains Callahan.

Grozny has had a string of high profile suicide bombings over the past 3 months targeting police officers. Islamic extremists have been blamed for these attacks.

The Kremlin officially ended its anti-terrorism operation in Chechnya in April 2009. Chrystal was hired by Shamsail Saraliev, Minister of Press and Information, Policy and External Affairs one month after the operations ceased in May .

Callahan’s program , “Highlights of the Week” which airs each week on international satellite TV and in the Chechen Republic, will begin debunking myths about Muslims on this Sunday’s season 2 premiere .
