October 06, 2007 - Zirana, an online community for residents of North American towns, has expanded its presence to multiple Bay Area towns. The website, which was launched earlier this year for Cupertino and Sunnyvale is now available to residents of many other Bay Area towns including Palo Alto, Santa Clara and Fremont.
Besides offering local news, information on local events, reviews on local businesses and information on local discounts and deals, Zirana focuses strongly on schools and after-school activities. Zirana is a community driven site and users can use it to express their opinion about local issues, local services and the local government. Residents of a town can also use it to connect with each other around common interests
Zirana also has built online communities for apartments in various cities. “People living in apartments are looking to connect with each other, whether to car-pool or find golf and tennis partners or get to know each other.” explains Sanjiv Sahay, who is Zirana’s founder and CEO. “Zirana helps them connect with each other and also provides them information about local services which they use on a regular basis, such as local pizza delivery, salons, drycleaners and the nearest daycare.”
Zirana will soon be available for other bay area towns. To find out more about Zirana and to see whether it’s available in your city, visit Zirana - Cities Online (Cupertino, Sunnyvale and other Bay Area Towns)
