(1888PressRelease) March 16, 2009 - KENSINGTON, Conn. --- Sculptor Sandra Lira loves silicone. Lira also loves dessert. Having used silicones for many years in the creation of her bronze and resin sculptures, Lira adores the material for the amazing detail that it can capture. The sculptor was surprised to find that silicone bakeware on the market seemed to be focusing on the heat resistant properties of silicone, but was not utilizing its tremendous design potential.

Lira's company, ZANDA PANDA Specialty Bakeware, strives to remedy that with decorative designs that are elegant enough for a formal fete, yet cute enough for kids. The versatility of the molds was a key consideration for Lira. They can be used for traditional baking, molded desserts, handmade gifts, arts & crafts projects, or simply for rainy-day clay-play for kids.

Looking much like the view from a child's kaleidoscope, Zanda Panda's new bakeware designs feature butterflies or hearts nestled among scrollwork and flowers. Eight slices are divided by a handy cutting guide impression incorporated into the design. This ensures that everyone gets a neat, equally sized slice with a heart or butterfly. A feature that will be much appreciated by moms wanting to head off any squabbles when serving to tots (or finicky adults).

A portion of the profits of the Kaleidoscope Heart design are donated to the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. Also, a collection of heart-healthy cake and cookie recipes will soon be available on the Zanda Panda website and blog.

The molds are made of 100% food-grade, FDA and LFGB approved, platinum cured silicone, with a temperature range of -40 to 446 degrees F (-40 to 230 degrees C) and are oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. Zanda Panda molds can be found at select gourmet housewares and specialty stores or directly from zandapanda.com.

Zanda Panda's Kaleidoscope Collection will debut at the International Housewares Show in Chicago, March 22-24, 2009. Zanda Panda is honored to be one of twenty companies invited by IHA to participate in their Media Welcome Reception, 5:30 - 7:00 pm Sunday, March 22, 2009, in Room N227b, North Building, Level 2 at McCormick Place. The Kaleidoscope Heart cake/cookie/crafts mold will be featured in the New Products Showcase at the Buyers Club in the South Building (GOHO) and Zanda Panda Specialty Bakeware will be in booth # S 3571, South Bldg, near the GOHO Cooking Theater.
