November 24, 2006 - You know her. She’s loyal always, supportive often, and downright fanatical sometimes. No, we’re not talking about your mother. We’re talking about a die-hard female sports fan, who soaks up each moment of her team’s play with the same passion and pleading usually reserved for a church revival.
And maybe you know her, too. She’s hip, hot, cute. You won’t find her in sweatpants that lost their shape during the early years of the Clinton presidency when she’s spurring on her favorite team. Her team gear doesn’t sacrifice her signature style.
Now we want to know them. FemmeVP.com, a new boutique sports shop dedicated entirely to the female fan, is announcing its “Faces of FemmeVP Contest” in search of two female sports fans--one die-hard and one casual--to be the official faces of the newly launched site.
The site, which features fashion-forward sports gear and home and car accessories every woman needs to support her team, is seeking pictures (PG-rated, please) of female fans pledging their allegiance to their favorite teams, schools or players.
All entries for the contest must be received by 12:01 pm (EST) December 31, 2006. Contest winners, who will each receive $500 cash and a bobble head inspired by their picture, will have their pictures or illustrated likeness posted on the FemmeVP.com homepage for a period of 90 days.
Fans can enter and vote on submitted pictures for the contest as well as find links to articles, tips, sports message boards and blogs.
FemmeVP’s president Devon Weaver said he and his wife Courtney built the community section of the site to create a haven for female sports fans. “We want to engage female sports fans in a very unique way and have them actually involved in our site, instead of just being a visitor.”
