  • (1888PressRelease) January 13, 2011 - LAS VEGAS, NV. - YG.com, a leading provider of online gaming and community tools, has launched the very first World of Warcraft Forum Archives, which features a nearly-complete archive of the old WoW forums.

In November 2010, Blizzard announced the official shut-down of the WoW forums, encouraging players to save the content and posts that they wished to preserve before migrating to the all-new community forums hosted on Battle.net. It was during this time that the YG team started work on archiving the old WoW forums to allow players to revisit the old content whenever they wish.

"When we heard that the WoW forums were going to be shut down, we thought it was such a shame to see all that great content disappear," said Brian Higby, YG.com's Chief Technology Officer. "The game and quest guides, fanfiction, guild history records - all of it would be gone forever. We decided that we had to do something to preserve the WoW forums for the sake of all the WoW players who took the time to contribute to the WoW community through those forums."

The WoW Forum Archives hosted on YG.com contains the majority of the posts, threads, and pages from both the WoW US forums and the WoW EU forums. These archives are not actual working discussion forums; they do not have the functions of a forum, such as posting or editing, searching, or logging in. The forum archives can be accessed at wowarchive.yg.com (US forums) and woweuarchive.yg.com (EU forums), and are free for the gaming community to view and browse.
