XAVi Technologies Launches IP-STB With Integrated 802.11n And DVB- T Functionality For Streaming True Full-HD Video Content— Which Is Impossible To Achieve By Using Current 802.11g Technologies

XAVi Technologies Corp. today announced the launch of its new industry-leading High Definition IPTV Set-Top Box which has integrated 802.11n and DVB-T functionality.

(1888PressRelease) February 20, 2008 - Foreseeing the evolution of High Definition multimedia, the Pisces®111 IP-STB is designed for streaming True Full-HD video content (up to 1080p) through a “Wireless” way— with new IEEE 802.11n technology— to avoid the hassle of wiring new cable in the home.

Current WiFi technology based on IEEE 802.11g can not provide enough bandwidth for HDTV video streaming. The latest WiFi technology based on IEEE 802.11n, which operating on 5 Ghz frequency band, could support more than 100 Mbps high bandwidth. The Pisces®111 IP-STB utilizes its built-in 802.11n WiFi technology with three MIMO antennas to deliver fast and reliable streaming of High Definition video content through wireless in the home, which could revolutionize the TV viewing experience for the users.

In Europe, the broadcasting of DVB-T terrestrial signals is now widely deployed, and the free-to-air broadcasting of high-quality digital content via DVB-T is well established. Therefore, there is a strong market demand for a hybrid IP-STB that not only can view IPTV services, but also can receive, decode, and display terrestrial DTV video content. Foreseeing this growing market demands, the Pisces®111 IP-STB integrates DVB-T, DVB-C, or DVB-S2 tuner for receiving digital video signal.

Following the path of Pisces® family, including Pisces®101 and Pisces®102 launched in 2007, the Pisces® 111 IP-STB can support H.264/MPEG-2/VC-1 formats and IPV6. Furthermore, a 160G hard disk is optional for Personal Video Recorder (PVR) function. In the future, TV conference functionality will also be supported in the advanced version of the Pisces® IP-STB family.

“We are very excited to launch the Pisces®111, and believe this product is a breakthrough for XAVi in the video/audio industry. By integrating core technologies in various applications, we can provide effective multimedia solutions and innovative values to our customers,” said Mr. Wenston Lee, XAVi’s co-founder and CEO.

XAVi Technologies will showcase its new Pisces®111 IPTV Set-Top Box in CeBIT 2008 at XAVi’s booth (Hall 12, Stand C01), held in Hannover, Germany from March 4~9.
