The inspiration for The Widow’s Mite Company came to us on one of our frequent hikes around the ruins in our region. We live in a small village, nestled among the low hills that grace central Israel, a short walk from Emmaus (referenced in Luke 24:13) and Latrun. On our walks we often imagine life in the Holy Land as it was lived while the Temple stood, just over two thousand years ago. The material remains from that period are a regular part of our daily lives, and we’re grateful for the opportunities afforded us to educate our children in the land of our forefathers.
Our passion for history, archaeology and the Bible gave rise to the idea that everyone should be privileged to hold and examine artifacts from ancient Israel, especially an artifact that has profound symbolic meaning for those who revere the Bible. The widow’s mite is that rarity: a piece of history that also serves as the consummate symbol of faith in God.
We are an Israeli family-based company, hailing originally from the States, with a deep love for the Holy Land and a commitment to its welfare. Every element of each unique piece, from the olivewood box to the silver mounting, is made in Israel. |
