July 03, 2008 - 2008 is a defining year for Unity Music and jazz vocalist Jamie Davis as he confirms his position in the pantheon of great male vocalists on VIBE OVER PERFECTION, his new CD, scheduled for release July 15, 2008.
Mr. Davis, who debuts at the 2008 Monterey Jazz Festival on September 21st, 2008, has been compared to Joe Williams, Johnny Hartman, and Lou Rawls, with a truly unique sound and style.
Vibe Over Perfection is Davis' second CD on Unity Music, again produced by Greg Errico, former drummer for Sly and the Family Stone, and engineered and mixed by 4-time Grammy Award winner, Woody Woodruff.
Named the "chocolate baritone" in 2007 year by Sir Michael Parkinson of the BBC, Mr. Davis has performed with Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Milt Jackson, Eddie Henderson, and Patty Austin, just to name a few.
An alum of the Count Basie Band, Davis swings harder than ever in Vibe Over Perfection. From the 1930’s classic, “Pennies From Heaven”, to Lou Rawls' 70's pop hit, “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine”, and Lionel Ritchie's "Hello", Davis and his orchestra leave you feeling good...really good.
Accompanied by world-class musicians such as Tom Scott, Shelly Berg, and members of The Count Basie Orchestra, featuring Scotty Barnhart, Vibe Over Perfection clearly establishes Jamie Davis among elite company.
