Sales of the company's worktop and decking products in particular have been extremely strong and the company is employing more staff to deal with demand together with a move to bigger premises. Wood and Beyond attributes their strong sales growth to the new site which was designed to provide the best possible customer experience, their new virtual room application which provides visual representation as to the look of a room with a particular type of wood and competitive pricing strategy.
"Since launching the new site, demand has been extremely strong and we are now able to convert more potential customers into paying customers", said Michelle Strassburg Head of marketing and sales for the company. Michelle Strassburg added "previously the company sold directly through a call centre, although we had basic website with no e-commerce functionality, but when more and more customers asked to buy online at their leisure we jumped on the opportunity". Perhaps the most innovative part of the new site is a virtual room application that was designed to provide a virtual representation of a room where the customer can mix and match between ten different ceiling paint colours, ten different wall paint colours and of course 10 shades of hardwood flooring to get that special look for the room. "Feedback from customers has been very positive and not unheard of for customers to spend 30 minutes on the page due to many combinations offered", said Michelle Strassburg.
