  • Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2014 - Susan Preston, founder of the Angel Resource Institute's Women First Enterprise, was honored at Senator Maria Cantwell's 2014 Women of Valor luncheon on October 9 in Seattle, Washington. Vice President Joe Biden headlined the annual event, which awards women for their outstanding civic and social contributions. The Vice President spoke for 40 minutes on women's rights, women and the economy, and ending violent crimes against women. Preston was one of four women recognized at the fundraising event. Preston received the high honor for her work in angel investing and entrepreneurship.

    "It doesn't get any better than being recognized by your Senator and the Vice President for doing what you love: supporting women as entrepreneurs and investors," said Preston after receiving her award from Senator Cantwell.

    Preston, who is an experienced investor and a leader in the early-stage investing community worldwide, is working to close this gap with entrepreneurial and investor education for women and minorities. She is the head of ARI's Women First Enterprise, the newly launched initiative geared toward educating females and minorities in the early-stage space. As the author of two books, Angel Financing for Entrepreneurs: Early-Stage Funding for Long-Term Success and Angel Investment Groups, Networks and Funds: A Guidebook to Developing the Right Angel Organization for Your Community, she brings first-hand investing knowledge to ARI's program.
