Woman Truck Driver Found Dead With Over 100 Pounds Of Marijuana

A female truck driver with a gunshot wound to the head was found dead Monday morning in the driver's seat of a tractor-trailer loaded with approximately 100 pounds of concealed marijuana.

Albuquerque, NM (1888PressRelease) January 24, 2008 - (URBANAGENDA) - Authorities believe the shooting occurred about 11:00 p.m. Sunday at the Flying J Plaza truck stop located on I-40 on Avalon Rd. in Albuquerque, NM.

At 6:05 a.m., a deputy stopped to check on what appeared to be a disabled tractor-trailer with its flashers on along Avalon Road I-40, finding the body of 47-year-old woman in the driver's seat of the truck. Rescue personnel who were called said the woman could not be revived. Homicide detectives arrived on the scene just before 7 a.m. They remained on the scene investigating and gathering evidence until after noon. They said the woman's death is suspicious.

The woman has been identified as Samantha Kenmore, 47, of Detroit, MI., a spokeswoman for the Medical Examiners Office said.

The marijuana found inside the woman's truck has a market value estimated to be more than $200,000, according to police.

The police currently have no leads and encourage anyone with information regarding this case to contact them immediately.
