March 02, 2008 - Compton, CA - As part of a Black History Month program at Compton High School, actor / comedian Willie Macc entertained students with stand-up comedy. Best known as the funny man from BET College Hill Virgin Islands, Willie Macc, who has only been doing stand-up comedy for only about 8 months, has entertained adult and youth audiences from Los Angeles to New Orleans.
The comedy show was the culmination of Compton High School’s Black History Month’s The History of Black Comedy program organized by school administrator Mr. Cleveland Palmer and others at the school. Hosted by Kel Mitchel ("Kenan & Kel Show") and including comedians Juan Garcia and Isiah Kelly, each comedian delivered a G-rated, teen-friendly, laugh evoking comedy routine.
When asked about the difference in performing for teens versus in adult comedy clubs, Willie Macc responded "I love entertaining high school students. Sometimes the kids can be a tough crowd though. You got to figure that although they are only teenagers, they are exposed to some really R-rated comedy on TV, and here we are trying to keep it clean. Man, I have to "bleep" myself in my head while I’m up there"
Willie Macc will be making other high school appearances this spring in both the United States and the UK, where his extremely popular season of College Hill premieres in April 2008 on the newly launched BET UK.
