September 30, 2009 - Daylight savings time ends on November 1, 2009 so as you “fall back”, remember that extra precautions are needed for protecting yourself and your dog during evening walks. There are several ways to protect animals during fall and winter. Purchasing collars or vests that integrate illumination technology into designs is recommended.
Sherpa Pet Group’s “Be Seen, Be Safe” line features Lunabrite, a leader in alternative illumination. The company’s patent pending non-toxic lighting technology was chosen as a Product of the Year for its innovation in protecting people and pets.
Lunabrite products provide enhanced visibility in a variety of compromised lighting conditions for up to 8 hours. Lunabrite recommends owners create a dusk-to-dawn protection plan and choose products that are water resistant, highly visible and provide adequate lighting in all reduced lighting environments throughout the fall and winter months.
Safety concerns for dog walkers and their companions in the winter months are compounded by the fact that dogs, especially dogs with dark coats are not visible at night. Even light colored dogs often blend in with fallen snow and can become less visible to traffic. Therefore, proper illumination with collars and vests along with proper insulated clothing that provides protection is a must.
Lunabrite and Sherpa Pet Group celebrates the bond between pets and their owners and will continue it’s commitment to the development of innovative products that keep pets out of harm’s way, while providing hours of after dark fun and frolic.
