September 04, 2008 - In a move designed to take advantage of its superior market position, Indianapolis-based Wheaton World Wide Moving is appointing Mark Kirschner as the company’s CEO and Dave Witzerman as the company’s president. The current President and CEO, Stephen F. Burns, will remain Chairman of the Board. The changes take effect beginning January 1, 2009.
As the sixth largest household goods carrier in the country (according to the American Moving and Storage Association) with no long term debt, consistent revenue growth and continuously increasing market share, Wheaton is well positioned for growth.
The changes are part of a strategic plan putting Kirschner at the company helm. As a 26-year industry and Wheaton veteran, Kirschner is uniquely qualified to set the vision and business strategy for Wheaton in the quickly evolving relocation industry and oversee the implementation of that strategy.
Burns, who led the company for more than 20 years, will move into a consultative role and assist the executive team with growth opportunities such as acquisitions and strategic partnerships.

When Kirschner’s appointment becomes effective January 1, 2009, he will be ultimately responsible for all facets of Wheaton’s internal and external operations and business activities. Kirschner has held several positions throughout his career with Wheaton, from operations to finance. Before being appointed CEO, he was the company’s chief operating officer.

Witzerman, the company’s new president, started with Wheaton in 1993 and is a 25-year industry veteran. He too has run various departments throughout the company with a focus on sales, marketing, customer/account services and agent network growth. He was executive vice president prior to his new appointment. Witzerman will help implement company strategy, explore strategic partnership opportunities, and maintain oversight of the sales, marketing and customer service organizations within the company.
