February 15, 2008 - As businesses work through the challenges of the current economy, there are bright spots for the region, especially in the new technology sectors.
What are the strengths of our region's economy now and what will support the economy in 2008 and propel it forward in the future? These questions will be examined the Sacramento Metro Chamber's annual Regional Economic Forum on Friday, Feb. 29. The forum will explore how economic development agencies regionwide are ensuring the success and growth of the local economy one business at a time.
A keynote address from Doug Svensson, president of Applied Development Economics and a renowned economic development forecaster, will examine growing industry trends in the region and their impact.
The Regional Economic Forum will also feature a panel of regional economic development experts, including David Spaur, city of Sacramento; Val Toppenberg, city of West Sacramento; and Joe Luchi, city of Folsom, moderated by Greg Hribar of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
The forum will be held 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand, 1230 J St, Sacramento 95814. Cost is $55 for members and $85 for nonmembers if confirmed before Feb. 22.
