West Palm Beach Antiques and Collectibles Show January 2-4, 2009

The West Palm Beach Antiques and Collectibles Show continues in January with dealers from around the country.

West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) November 19, 2008 - The West Palm Beach Antiques and Collectibles Show will celebrate the New Year on the first week end of 2009, January 2-4. Continuing its 18 year consecutive run in the same location, the Show will again feature dealers from around the country, many of whom are in for the season. This will be a great opportunity to visit with not only those dealers who come south for the winter but with the local dealers who have established a loyal following. As it usually does the Show will include special services for visitors such as glass and porcelain repair, jewelry repair, silver and gold plating and doll repair.

One of the local dealers of special interest is Sally Hoffman who has been a West Palm Beach Show regular for fifteen years. She has recently changed direction in the booth she shares with husband Roger. Hoffman formerly restored and sold dressy antique purses until two years ago when she ran into the Painted Lady. The Painted Lady (whose identity is not revealed) is an artist who creates miniature porcelain faces which she incorporates into jewelry. Hoffman and the Painted Lady collaborate on some designs and some designs are uniquely Hoffman’s who also used to be a costume jewelry dealer.

She prefers “pretty” faces in her creations which include earrings, necklaces, pins, brooches and almost any other variety of unique jewelry she comes up with. No two pieces are ever alike and she says she draws her inspiration “from almost anywhere” often adding hats or bodies to the faces. Her two most frequently asked questions are “Where did these come from?” (“ I made them”) and “Do they have names?” (“No”). Hoffman has six large jewelry cases of Painted Lady faces jewelry and has customers that range in age from 20 to over 80. She has regular customers that have become collectors and other who regularly buy her work as gifts.

While Hoffman works the jewelry Roger specializes in Royal Doulton, focusing primarily on retired issues of figurines and character jugs, working exclusively with items made in England. Together the Hoffman’s Crystal Cupboard booth occupies a space and a half at the Show and has won the Best Booth award at a previous Show

Americraft Expo Center at the South Florida Fair is located off Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach, FL, 1.5 miles west of the Florida Turnpike and 1 mile east of 441/SR7.
