June 30, 2009 - Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP Partner William Acevedo was appointed to the Board of Directors of the nonprofit organization Healthy Child Healthy World (www.healthychild.org).
The organization was founded in 1991 to combat the use of hazardous household chemicals that may cause or contribute to chronic diseases and illnesses in young children. Advised by scientists and physicians, Healthy Child Healthy World activists educate the community on environmental hazards, and help parents create home environments free of toxins that can negatively affect their children’s health.
Acevedo’s concern for children’s health issues and his legal expertise on environmental issues made for a natural fit with Healthy Child Healthy World. “I’m very passionate about raising awareness in this area to protect children. My son was diagnosed with asthma when he was three years old. I learned that environmental pollutants could have contributed to his asthma, and I’m thrilled to be a part of an organization that is trying to do something to remedy this problem,” said Acevedo.
Acevedo heads Wendel Rosen’s Green Business Practice Group. He advises clients on various business issues related to green/sustainability issues and assists them with entity formation, general business advice, contract negotiation and drafting, and trademark and licensing issues. He has an active litigation practice representing clients on a variety of matters, including contractual disputes, environmental contamination claims, product liability, toxic tort, and personal injury claims. His diverse client-base includes corporate entities, property development and management entities, media companies, and public agencies.
Acevedo earned his J.D. from Boston College Law School (1997) and his B.A. from Rutgers College (1994).
