(LOS ANGELES – March 1, 2006) – Digital technology has changed the art of wedding photography and storytelling.
Photographers can quickly download files, process and manipulate the images and have almost unlimited options for presenting their images, sometimes instantly. An emerging trend has been for photographers to select favorite images of the day and create a slideshow for guests, even before the dinner reception has started. Wedding photographer Gregorio Bumatay, Bumatay Studio, takes the wedding slideshow trend to the next level by providing slideshow presentations that wedding couples and guests alike can view anywhere they are – at the reception, on the honeymoon or on the go – directly on their cell phones.
Bumatay combines different tools such as Apple’s iPhoto and QuickTime Pro. Once a slideshow is created on his laptop, Bumatay converts that file using QuickTime Pro and uploads it via Bluetooth to his LG CU500 cell phone. The slideshow is now viewable on his cell phone, which can upload to other cell phones with the same Bluetooth technology.
“Once people hear about the cell phone slideshow during the reception, they go crazy over it and start passing it along to other people, creating additional excitement and buzz over the festivities,” says Bumatay. The bride and groom can view their pictures that same night and have something to take with them to their honeymoon. Bumatay also makes these slideshows available for his clients to download online.
Bumatay has always taken advantage of new technologies to gain a marketing edge. When clients and guests view the slideshow of images taken just moments before, they are surprised and amazed. Says Bumatay, “Some people still have not seen anything like this done during a wedding, so they are shocked that they can instantly see the wedding photos.”
Having a marketing edge is important to have especially in the competitive digital photography industry. Bumatay has found a way to create marketing buzz by storytelling with slideshows on cell phones.
