March 12, 2008 - In a letter of commendation to the organization Mekenna went on to state that ‘It was very interesting to review OPTA’s history dating back to 1932 when a handful of business owners established the original Olympic Peninsula Resort and Hotel Assoc. Then MeKenna Wrote “Through the Years OPTA has worked tirelessly to showcase the beautiful scenery of Washington Olympic Peninsula. I have driven the Highway 101 loop many times and always enjoy the spectacular views of the historic towns, forests, beaches and glacier-covered mountains.
I commend the OPTA for it’s dedication to promoting the Olympic Peninsula and improving the regions economic standing. Again, please accept my congratulations and appreciation for your many years of service to the citizens of Washington”
OPTA is the only organization that represents all six counties on the Olympic Peninsula. For 75 years OPTA has provided travelers with valuable information about the Olympic Peninsula and is one of the organizations that has made the Olympic Peninsula a nationally recognized vacation destination.
