Washington D.C. Area Outsourcing Professionals Hold Inaugural IAOP Chapter Meeting

The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals has formed a new Washington, D.C. chapter. Its first breakfast event on Nov. 8 will address opportunities and challenges for local businesses involved with outsourcing.

Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2007 - POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., – Top area outsourcing professionals will meet Nov. 8 at the inaugural breakfast meeting of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals’ (IAOP) Washington, D.C. chapter.

IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett will review the state of the outsourcing industry, the emerging role of outsourcing professionals as leaders of organizational transformation, and share ways that IAOP is helping outsourcing professionals deliver better, more consistent outcomes for their companies.

“With the rapid growth of outsourcing providers based in the Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. area, outsourcing companies decided now was the time to come together to freely exchange experiences and best practices, and connect with experts in their fields,” Corbett said.

Jim Alberg, Partner and Chairman of Pillsbury Global Sourcing, will also provide an update on best practices as well as potential risks and pitfalls of multi-sourcing relationships.

The event is open to users, advisors and providers of outsourcing services that are individual or corporate members of IAOP or guests. Hundsun Global Services, Inc., an IAOP corporate member and chair of the chapter, and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP are sponsors of the event.

“Outsourcing presents many promises, benefits and opportunities for local businesses, as well as formidable challenges,” Corbett said. “The primary objective of this meeting is to get feedback about the challenges being faced and how the D.C chapter can best help manage and overcome them over the next year.”

The forum will be highly interactive and will seek topics and issues to explore during future chapter meetings.

The meeting will be held at the offices of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, 2300 N Street NW (entrance at 24th and N), Washington, D.C. Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. with the meeting beginning promptly at 8 a.m. Refreshments will be provided.
