- Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) August 31, 2010 - Dion has been impressing racing fans across the world this season with his driving skills and hopes to advance further in his pursuit of the coveted Rookie of the Year award. The Montreal 200 is one of the premiere events in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series and is drawing fans from across the world.
"I really cannot wait to get to finally drive on the famous Gilles Villenueve circuit!," said Dion. "If you talk to any driver that's driven there it always holds a special place in their heart as it is a true drivers' track. For me to be able to go there in the Doran Racing PR Newswire/ South African Airways/ McDonalds Daytona Prototype is a special experience for me. It is a very fast high speed circuit with some very technical braking zones and I really think our Doran Racing car will be working great around there. Hopefully Mark Patterson and I will be fighting for the top position this weekend!"
This weekend, von Moltke will be racing with co-driver Mark Patterson in the McDonalds / South African Airways (SAA) / PRNewswire Ford Dallara Daytona Prototype that proudly sports Dion's native South African flag. Patterson is also currently competing in Europe on the FIA GT3 circuit. The South African flag is displayed from nose to tail on the Vuvuzela car. Some have described the flag paint scheme as the most colorful design ever on a car.
"With this car we are proudly continuing on from the World Cup the exciting and stunning images of South Africa, one of the most beautiful countries on the planet, in many more ways than what you can see in the bush, the beaches, the mountains and the cities," said Dion. "With the assistance of our partner PRNewswire, we are promoting SAA as the best way to fly there, and also South Africa as an incredible destination to visit and to do business with."
Marc Cavaliere, Executive Vice President of SAA in North America added: "We have been proudly supporting Dion for some years now. The Number 77 Doran car has been consistently running upfront in 2010 and this supports our message as the leading airline to a spectacular destination. The South African car looks stunning and I can't wait to see it on the track."
South African Airways will be hosting VIP customers at Montreal's Gilles Villeneuve circuit on August 28th, which is also on the Formula One circuit.
