VMG Worldwide Signs Mayweathers

The World’s Most Prominent Boxing Family Selects VMG Worldwide for Exclusive, Worldwide Marketing and Representation.

(1888PressRelease) May 28, 2009 - Atlanta, GA - VMG Worldwide, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vexiom Corporation, is the world’s most preeminent and diversified sports, entertainment, and media companies, is proud to announce the signing of Jeff Mayweather, Roger Mayweather, and Floyd Mayweather Sr. to an exclusive worldwide marketing and licensing agreement. “The Mayweather family of brothers is without doubt legendary in the sport of professional boxing and VMG will maximize the potential and value of their brand” said Tyler Barr, CEO of VMG Worldwide “it’s just both an honor and pleasure to have them select the VMG Worldwide team. We already have a lot of big opportunities in development!”

The Mayweathers began their careers in professional boxing as fighters themselves. Floyd “Joy” Mayweather Sr. was the first member of the Mayweather family to turn professional. He had a very respectable record of 29-6-1 with 20 ko's and once fought boxing legends Sugar Ray Leonard and Marlon Starling. He was well known for his outspokenness. He would often recite poetry about his opponents which is he still practices today, as he writes poetry for the opponents that his fighter is fighting.

Professionally known around the world as Roger "Black Mamba" Mayweather, the first professional athlete to originally introduce this nickname to the sports world, Roger Mayweather was the next brother to step through the ropes. He had the most successful boxing career of the Mayweather brothers. He sported a record of 59-13 35 ko's. He won the WBA super featherweight world title in 1983 and won the WBC light welterweight world title in 1987. In all he had six successful title defenses. He literally fought a who's who of the legends of his era squaring of against legends such as Sammy Serrano, Rocky Lockridge, Julio Cesar Chavez, Freddie Pendleton, Pernell Whitaker, Vinnie Pazienza, Rafael Pineda, Livingstone Bramble, and Kostya Tszyu. He also won several regional titles along the way.

Jeff “Jazzy” Mayweather, also know as the “Quiet Mayweather”, was the last of the storied Mayweather brothers to step into the ring as a professional boxer. Jeff also had a very successful professional career. He won the IBO super featherweight world championship in 1994 and had two successful defenses before losing his title to Israel “Pito” Cardona. He also faced world champions Oscar De La Hoya, Joey Gamache, and Jesse James Leija. He would finish his professional boxing career with a very respectable professional record of 32-10-5 10 ko's.

After their very successful boxing careers each of the Mayweather brothers looked to training fighters as a way to carry on their ring legacies, and what a wonderful job they have done. Floyd Mayweather Sr. is well known for teaching great defense and throwing a stiff jab. He has been very successful teaching the fighters that he works with a technique called the should roll. The shoulder roll uses the front shoulder to block blows and to limit the impact of the blows. Floyd Sr. also goes by one of the monikers “The Greatest Trainer of All Time.” He has trained world champions Floyd Mayweather Jr., Oscar De La Hoya,, Chad Dawson, Joan Guzman, Steve Forbes, Laila Ali, and most recently Ricky Hatton for his fight with Manny Pacquaio.

Roger Mayweather is best known as a trainer for his two stints of training the legendary and undefeated five division world champion “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather Jr. from 1996-1998 and from 2000- the present. After several years as the number one pound for pound boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his retirement after his dismantling of the then undefeated Ricky Hatton in December of 2007. He announced his comeback with Roger Mayweather still as his trainer on May 1, 2009. Roger also trained former world champion Steve Forbes and is currently training several up and coming boxers including contenders Cornelius Locke and Lorissa Rivas.

Jeff Mayweather has also had a very successful career as a world class boxing trainer. He burst onto the scene as a prominent boxing trainer in 2006 when he was training Ray Austin in an IBF eliminator fight against the highly favored and undefeated Sultan Ibragimov. In a fight, that many people thought that Austin should have gotten the win, they received a highly disputed draw in a great performance by Austin and Mayweather both. Jeff then went on to train former world heavyweight world champion Shannon Briggs, and then trained Sultan Ibragimov to defeat Shannon Briggs by a wide unanimous decision to win the WBO world heavyweight title. Jeff has also trained former world champion Steve Forbes and current contender Lorissa Rivas. He is currently training the very talented up and coming undefeated prospects Mickey and Cortez Bey.

The Mayweather brothers are the most famous brothers in boxing history bar none. Their storied past is full of boxing history both as fighters and as trainers. As fighters they are the only three brothers to fight Olympic gold medalists. As trainers they are the only three brothers to each train world champions at the same time and in different weight divisions. These guys have made history. “Your just beginning to see the potential that we can see for these guys” said Nick Sampson Vice President of VMG Worldwide. “These guys have spent many years building a very prominent and unique brand in professional sports and entertainment, and now it's really time for them to all capitalize on all of the years of hard work. That's just what we are going to do.” Things that you can expect to see in the near future for the Mayweathers are a foundation, books, films, brand products, and many other marketing opportunities.
