Roger Mayweather, who is part of the world famous Mayweather boxing family, fought professionally from 1981-1999. He had an extremely successful professional boxing career finishing as a two time world champion with a record of 59-13 35 ko's.
Known as the “Black Mamba” Mayweather literally fought a who's who of the legends of his era squaring of against legends such as Sammy Serrano, Rocky Lockridge, Julio Cesar Chavez, Freddie Pendleton, Pernell Whitaker, Vinnie Pazienza, Rafael Pineda, Livingstone Bramble, and Kostya Tszyu. After his retirement in 1999 Mayweather has taken on a very successful career as a boxing trainer. He is best known in this area for his two stints of training the legendary and undefeated five division world champion Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather Jr. from 1996-1998 and from 2000- the present.
Roger also trained former world champion Steve Forbes and is currently training several up and coming boxers including contenders Cornelius Locke and Lorissa Rivas. Roger Mayweather is now preparing to step onto the big stage again, as he will be part of the biggest fight to take place this summer. On July 18, 2009 boxing's current pound for pound fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25 ko's) will make his long awaited comeback return with Roger Mayweather as his head trainer, and primary in the corner, against Juan Manuel Marquez (50-4-1, 37 ko's).
