May 07, 2009 - Vita Vygovska, the owner of V2K Window Décor & More in Newtown, Pa., Bucks County, has been awarded 1st place in the international Envision Design Competition, which drew hundreds of entries from around the globe. Vygovska’s custom draperies designed for a floor-to-ceiling bow window occupying the entire wall of a great room received the top nod from a 10-judge panel in the Specialty Window Fashions category. An awards ceremony will take place on May 13, 2009, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta as part of Vision09: International Window Coverings EXPO, the largest window fashion industry tradeshow and educational summit worldwide.
“I am thrilled to have my work recognized by a distinguished panel of industry experts in an international competition,” said Vygovska. “Window treatment design is my passion, and I particularly enjoy taking on challenging windows such as two-story bays and bows and wowing my clients with beautiful, functional designs that become the focal point of the room.”
Vygovska’s winning design featured sheer and solid silk draperies in four patterns, topped with a cornice complemented by custom iron scrollwork and two gathered swags. The scrollwork added a unique dimension to the treatment, while bow-shaped hardware and accessories mirrored the lines of the window.
The clients who benefitted from Vygovska’s winning design described their large bow window as a challenging feature given its status as the focal point of the first floor and its visibility from the upstairs balcony, which spans the second floor in its entirety. They requested a window treatment that would be striking and functional, reflecting their unique character but maintaining a nod toward tradition.
