April 07, 2009 - The Villa Victoria Center for the Arts, in Boston’s South End, will be transformed into a glamorous 1940s/50s Latin nightclub complete with retro attire, Spanish-Caribbean-inspired food by Above and Beyond Catering, live Latin music by Grupo Fantasia, dancing, prizes, and the hottest silent auction north of Havana. Auction package including a private dinner prepared in your home by Chef Jason Bond, vacation getaways to Killington and Mexico, tickets to professional sporting events, and many more fabulous items, with 100% of proceeds going to the charity. About the Hurley School:
The Joseph J. Hurley School, located at 70 Worcester Street in Boston’s South End, is one of only three dual-language immersion schools in the Boston Public School system. This innovative school serves the neighborhood’s racially, ethnically, and economically diverse population with a two-way bilingual program in which native English- and Spanish- speaking students learn together, experiencing the core academic curriculum in two languages, and gaining literacy and fluency in both English and Spanish.
About NPHS:
NPHS is a group of parents and community members working with the Joseph J. Hurley School to make it one of the best schools in Boston. NPHS supports the school by helping raise funds, developing partnerships with a variety of organizations, and working to bring the Hurley needed resources to enhance the educational experience of its students. NPHS’s efforts have enabled the school to hire a science specialist and librarian; add music, theater, and dance programs; restore the gymnasium; improve the teachers’ lounge and front office; create a school library; and transform a parking lot into an athletic field.

Villa Victoria Center for the Arts is a cutting-edge multi-functional community arts center whose mission is to: promote, preserve, and celebrate traditional and contemporary Latino arts and to create dynamic cross cultural collaborations. The Villa Victoria Center for the Arts combines our Jorge Hernández Hall (converted into a 450-person capacity performance venue from a historic church in 1986) with a new community arts center (historically renovated from the adjacent parish house in 2003) that includes a gallery, dance studio and visual arts studio.
The Villa Victoria Center for the Arts’ goals are to provide high quality and affordable: arts education, particularly for at-risk youth in Villa Victoria; advocacy, coordination, support and incubation for Latino artists and arts organizations; exhibition, work, rehearsal, performance and rental space; and opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration between Latinos and the rest of the city's diverse populations. Celebrating Boston's growing diversity, the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts is taking shape as a new landmark in the city that will transcend Villa Victoria and the Latino community and become a fixture engraved into the cultural life of New England as a whole.
