September 15, 2006 - Pretoria, South Africa –September 14, 2006 – “When company restructuring and Affirmative Action forces you out of a job, it is definitely not the end of the world”, says the founder of a new website who wants to help educated jobless people to earn an income.
Ontowebmedia.com is the brainchild of Mr Lukas du Preez (also known as John Depre), who at the age of 56, was left without an income during a company restructuring that favoured the application of stringent Affirmative Action laws. The blueprint for this website is described in his book “Beyond Yourself in Thinking, Problem Solving and Decision Making”. It describes in a very clear language the thinking processes for solving difficult problems with specific reference to his personal situation.
In his book, Mr du Preez view society as too self-centred. People should reach out to each other and create a more supportive environment to ease the financial and psychological despair that many people find themselves in.
Ontowebmedia.com provides a platform for those individuals in need that do not have the means to publish their knowledge and experience. At the moment Mr du Preez is funding the project from his own limited resources. Ontowebmedia only takes a small fee for each e-book that is sold to cover the basic expenses. The ideal situation, according to Mr du Preez, is to provide a totally free service, where the authors could get the full revenues from each book that is sold. He is hopeful that he could sell enough copies of his own book to provide a sustainable service.
Ontowebmedia tries to serve all people, from all countries and languages. As to date English, Afrikaans and Dutch are supported.
