Clearly from being a wage arbitrage play, off shoring is heading away, with customers demanding either for greater productivity profits or defined performance outcomes from service providers; MNCs like IBM have got their act together for India and have started to pose a challenge for top Indian service providers, leading to an intense war for talent; servicing the new offerings are likely to threw up skill set or execution challenges in the future years for most of Indian Software companies. Obviously, India is standing as a potential off shoring nation.
Software Development giants
Over the future of Indian Software Development industry from the supply side it is also an opportunity moment to stop and ponder. By using global product organizations as a case study, most of product firms will ultimately collapse, but there would be still a business case by using the subscription model. There is a lesson there for the Software Development giants that are riding the wave of the global model, human resource, wage arbitrage, quality processes are fine, but to create a new curve of innovative growth at the right time would be a challenge. Growing on high rates, since IT Outsourcing is sufficiently maturing, it is said by the time of great confusion.
Indian organization will have to invest in frameworks of re-usable if they want to ensure their fundamental underlying business model is not linked to revenue from labor hour. So most of the organizations have more than 50,000 IT-employees and they are with 2-3 billion dollar now. The entire sector has continuously progressed beyond application development, starting from e-commerce in the late nineties with maintenance towards packaged implementation, remote infrastructure management, testing and transaction-based Software Development consulting.
